New Eugenia Substance Abuse Treatment Center Open in Mossyrock

The Eugenia Center has been providing treatment for adults with substance abuse issues out of its downtown Chehalis location for more than 25 years. For the past three weeks, those same services have been available out of Mossyrock.

The Eugenia Center opened up a new rural branch in Mossyrock on Nov. 9 that is better suited to serving East Lewis County residents.

“Great Rivers Behavioral Health is excited to support The Eugenia Center in opening a new location in Mossyrock,” said Todd Broderius, Great Rivers chief integration officer. “It is important for us to make these services available to East Lewis County and some of our more rural communities.”

Statistics provided by the Great Rivers Behavioral Health Organization showed that in 2011 there were 1,033 drug-induced deaths in Washington related to the use of prescription opioids, heroin, cocaine, tranquilizers, methamphetamine and other substances. Out of that tally, 141 deaths were due to suicide.

Mossyrock was chosen as the location for the new center due to its central location for East Lewis County residents, many of whom may have difficulty making daily trips to Chehalis for treatment and services. The center typically has three staff members on duty during regular business hours.

The new Eugenia Center in Mossyrock, located at 230 E. State St., is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Walk-in appointments are accepted daily between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and assessments can be scheduled Monday through Thursday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
