The National Park Service (NPS) is accepting public feedback on Mount Rainier National Park’s draft plan to improve accessibility.

The self-evaluation and transition plan (SETP) suggests timelines and plans to improve park structures, programs and services that reduce existing barriers to accessibility. The plan was created with input from experts in planning, design, construction along with specialists in interpretive resources, visitor safety, maintenance and accessibility.

The deadline to provide comments is Nov. 30. The draft SETP and comment portal can be found at parkplanning.nps.gov/MountRainierSETP

“It is very important that Mount Rainier National Park provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for visitors of all abilities to enjoy,” Superintendent Greg Dudgeon said in a news release. “This plan describes our strategy to improve accessibility in key locations throughout the park, and helps ensure that Mount Rainier’s spectacular wildflower meadows, old-growth forests, waterfalls and other resources can be experienced by all.”

Public comments, including those with personal and identifying information, could be made public.
