In his final act representing the Napavine Tigers, Grady Wilson put together a great performance at the Earl Barden Classic in Yakima on Saturday, earning West Defensive Most Valuable Player honors.
Defensive stats were not available at the time of writing, but offensively, Wilson completed 6 of his 11 pass attempts at quarterback for 65 yards.
The East team took control of the game in the third quarter, building on a 10-point halftime lead with two more touchdowns before adding another in the fourth to cap off a 36-6 victory.
Wilson was Napavine’s lone representative, but there were other area players who earned spots at the mid-summer All-Star event.
Also listed on the finalized West roster was Pe Ell/Willapa Valley’s Blane King, Adna’s Steven O’Dell, Jackson Knittle, and Noah Hellem, and Tumwater’s Blake Heryford earned a spot on the finalized East roster.
Other award winners from the game include Montesano’s Zach Timmons, who was named the West’s Offensive MVP, Meridian’s Daniel Larsen, the West’s Most Inspirational, and Granite Falls’ Geno Howard, the West’s Outstanding Teammate.
On the east side, East Valley’s Jaxon Berg was named both the East Offensive MVP and the East’s Outstanding Teammate, Freeman’s Logan Schultz earned East Defensive MVP honors, and Prosser’s Josiah West was named the East’s Most Inspirational.
