Napavine took on Oregon’s North Clackamas Christian on Monday at Lower Columbia College, and the Tigers came out on top of the interstate clash 54-43.

North Clackamas Christian entered the game 11-1 overall, and not only did Napavine hold the Saints to their second-lowest scoring output of the season, but they also put up more points than any team did in their first 12 contests.

The Tigers held just a three-point lead after one quarter of play, but they outscored the Saints 19-6 in the second to build a 16-point halftime lead.

They continued to add on in the third, pushing the gap to 23, before the Saints made a dent in the deficit in the fourth.

Hayden Kaut scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Sophia Bittner added 11 points. Taylen Evander added nine points, six rebounds, and two steals, and Ava Ondong had nine points, four rebounds, and two steals of her own.

“I thought those four really balanced each other tonight,” Napavine coach Shane Schutz said.

Defensively, the Tigers did an excellent job limiting the Saints from beyond the arc. By the end of the game, North Clackamas Christian had made just seven of their 24 attempts from deep.

“We made those shots very difficult for them tonight,” Schutz added.

The Tigers (11-4, 3-0 C2BL) return home to host Mossyrock on Tuesday.
