Napavine starts slow, never recovers in loss to Montesano

The Napavine girls soccer team fell behind just two minutes into its opening game against Montesano, and the Tigers never fully recovered in a 4-1 loss on Thursday.

The Grizzlies jumped on top in the second minute of the game, and they doubled their advantage in the 23rd.

Just four minutes later, Napavine’s Ava Wilson scored off an assist from Jenna Gallagher to cut the deficit in half, but another Montesano goal in the 34th made it a two-goal game again before half.

An insurance goal in the 49th was more than enough for the Grizzlies to hold on.

Taylen Evander made eight saves in net.

Napavine (0-1) will go again for win No. 1 on Tuesday at home against R.A. Long.
