Napavine jumps on top early, cruises to win over Raymond

One night after allowing zero points in the second half, the Napavine girl’s basketball team put together another stellar defensive effort, allowing only one point in the second half of a 67-16 win over Raymond.

The Seagulls were able to put some points on the board in the first half, but the Tigers (2-0) quickly took a big lead, scoring 49 points in the first half.

The Tigers dominated the game in every facet, outscoring the Ravens 27-2 in the paint and out rebounding them 40-17.

Hayden Kaut had a game-high 26 points, shooting 12 of 16 from the floor, while also hauling in six rebounds. Taylen Evander added 15 points, and Keira O’Neill also finished in double figures with 11. 

O’Neill and Avery Schultz led the team with seven rebounds each, while Evander dished out five assists and Kaut nabbed four steals.

Napavine is off until Tuesday, when they’ll host Montesano.
