Napavine Fire Department to Host Monthly Coffee With the Chief Discussions

Posted

Napavine area residents are invited to join Fire Chief Dan Mahoney for coffee on the fourth Monday of every month, starting April 25, to ask questions and get more information on the Lewis County Fire District 5's ongoing growth.

Topics of discussion will include the fire district’s current and future funding, equipment status and the district’s strategic plan.

“With the economic growth in both residential and commercial (areas) in our community, your fire department is forced to grow to accommodate the needs of its constituents,” stated the fire district in a news release.

Attendees are encouraged to “bring questions, concerns and input to this relaxed, informational meeting.” All are welcome and encouraged to attend, stated the district in the release.

Meetings will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at 115 West Washington Street in Napavine.

For more information, contact Mahoney at 360-262-3320.

District 5 was recently allocated $2 million in the supplemental capital budget for upgrades to the district’s fire station in Napavine.

A measure that would have increased property taxes collected by District 5 to pay for fire protection operations, staffing, equipment and maintenance, as well as cover two full-time positions, failed by one vote on the August 2021 ballot.

Mahoney has indicated the fire district intends to place a similar measure on the August 2022 ballot.
