The Napavine girls basketball team gave 3A White River a battle on Saturday, but the Tigers faded late in the second half of a 59-37 loss.
The Tigers trailed by just three after one and by seven at halftime, but after the break, the Hornets outscored Napavine 31-16 in the second half.
“Today was a great game for us to see the areas of improvement,” Schutz said. “This was a great learning experience for our basketball team today.”
Taylen Evander led the Tigers with 11 points, while Hayden Kaut scored six points and added eight rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals.
Aubrey Williams also scored six points, while Nicholle Valentine and Hannah Fay both added four. Jessie McCoy and Ava Ondong both had six rebounds and two points, and Clara Fay also scored a pair of points.
Napavine (8-3, 1-0 C2BL) will hit the road for a non-league contest against Montesano on Tuesday.
