Another stout defensive performance, this time with some 3-point shooting to boot, fueled the Tigers to a convincing 53-34 triumph over the Ducks on Friday night in Toutle.
For the second straight game, Napavine (10-4, 2-1 C2BL) allowed just one point in the first quarter. It was able to hold on to the lead in large part due to Taylen Evander’s 24-point outing that saw her get half of her points from the free throw line.
Toutle Lake’s only points in the opening half came from the charity stripe. There were a grand total 41 personal fouls in the contest. Hayden Kaut chipped in 12 points for the Tigers and was one of five players with at least six rebounds.
Napavine joins four others in the league with one loss almost halfway through. It will face Scapposse, an Oregon high school on Monday in a tournament celebrating MLK Day at Lower Columbia College.
