Mount St. Helens Bluegrass Festival to Be Held at Park in Toledo

The Mount St. Helens Bluegrass Festival is back this year for the weekend of Aug. 13 to 15. There is ongoing construction at Toledo High School, the event’s usual venue, so it will instead be held at Kemp Olson Memorial Park in Toledo.

Due to the pandemic, the festival was canceled last year for the first time since its 1984 debut.

California bands Central Valley Boys and Crying Uncle will headline.

Others featured at the festival will be Oregon's Fern Hill, Kentucky Sky from Idaho and Olympic Peninsula ensemble FarmStrong. The event will also include workshops, a “band scramble” and open mics.

“Usually we have one or two touring bands from back east,” said Washington Bluegrass Association board member Bruce Baskin in a news release. “But bluegrass has grown so much that nobody has to look far to find good bands. There are tons of them on the West Coast. This is a really strong lineup.”
