A motorcyclist is dead after a collision in Northeast Portland, followed by the ambulance in which the rider was being transported also crashing, police said.
The motorcyclist, whose identity hasn’t been released, collided with a car near Northeast 15th Avenue and Lombard Street at about 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, the Portland Police Bureau said in a statement. Officers arrived to find the motorcyclist “suffering from critical, life-threatening injuries.” The driver of the car had minor injuries.
An ambulance took the motorcyclist from the scene, but it was involved in a collision on the way to the hospital, police said. A second ambulance responded and took the motorcyclist to the hospital, where the person died.
Police did not say there were any injuries in the ambulance crash.
The causes of both crashes are under investigation.
