The Mossyrock girls basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on Thursday, dropping a road matchup in Toutle Lake 60-38.
“We got a reality check,” Mossyrock coach Nick Rashoff said. “We came off of a good win for our first game of the year and didn’t come out with the same fire tonight. I didn’t have them mentally ready to go tonight, and I will take the blame for that.”
Toutle Lake came out of the gates blazing, scoring 23 points in the first quarter and adding 15 more in the second to take a 16-point lead into the break.
The second half was more even, but the Vikings weren’t able to make a dent into the deficit.
Adyson Barrows led the team with 12 points, while Taylor Schwartz added 10. Both Maci Rashoff and Brooke Schwartz scored six.
“We just didn’t execute well on either side of the ball,” Rashoff said. “We did some good things at times, but nothing consistent. We will get back in the gym and get going again.”
The Vikings (1-1) will head to Elma on Monday.
