The Vikings had chances to come away with the first win of the season, but just six field goals in the final frame left them on the wrong side of a 56-53 verdict to the Ducks on Wednesday night in the C2BL opener.
Toutle Lake held on despite going 2-of-12 from the free throw line in the fourth. Easton White paced the Ducks with 19 points while Jamison Schelb added 14. Meanwhile for Mossyrock (0-1), Colby Cournyer and Shaun Fry combined for 38 points.
The Vikings led by a point after one quarter, but lost the lead at half and trailed by four. They’ll look to get back on track on Friday when they host Rainier.
“Unfortunately, we really struggled to rebound the basketball and find our teammates in a position to score down the stretch,” Mossyrock head coach Kelly Ross said. “We had a few defensive miscues in the first half but we made the adjustments to help get us back on track.”
