For the fourth straight season, the Mossyrock girls basketball is into the state tournament. The Vikings clinched their bid on Monday, topping Willapa Valley 35-28 in the 1B District 4 semifinals.

Mossyrock held a small lead throughout most of the game, though the Vikings couldn’t pull away. They struggled from the floor, shooting just 21.8 percent, but they did enough defensively to hold off Willapa Valley.

“I’m very proud of the entire team tonight,” Mossyrock coach Autumn Moorcroft said. “It was a great team win tonight. Every person did their job tonight, all the way to the energy on the bench.”

Delaney Marshall led Mossyrock in scoring with 13 points and she added six rebounds, while Renzy Marshall led the team on the boards with 15 rebounds while scoring eight points.

Abbie Lovan tallied five assists and added three points, while Taylor Schwartz scored six points and came away with three steals.

With the win, Mossyrock is into the District Championship, where the Vikings will take on Taholah on Saturday at Montesano.
