The Mossyrock girls basketball team completed an unbeaten league season on Thursday, topping Willapa Valley 44-36 in a defensive struggle.

Mossyrock (14-6, 10-0 1B CVL) held a slim lead throughout most of the game, but Willapa Valley got within one in the third quarter.

Maci Rashoff, an eighth grader, provided a major spark for Mossyrock, hitting five threes, including three in a row in the fourth, to help the Vikings pull away. Rashoff finished 5 of 10 from deep and scored a game-high 15 points.

Maci hit some big time shots and is just a great shooter,” Mossyrock coach Autumn Moorcroft said. “We really needed someone to step up and knock some shots down, and she did just that.”

Renzy Marshall added six points and also grabbed nine rebounds, while Abbie Lovan added six points and four assists.

As league champions, Mossyrock will receive the No. 1 seed out of the Columbia Valley league and they will receive a bye all the way to the semifinals on Monday, Feb. 12. They will host a semifinal, where a win will clinch a state berth and a spot in the district championship game.
