The 2026 2B District 4 Tournament began the same way the 2025 tournament did for the Morton-White Pass girls basketball team, which defeated Chief Leschi 75-55 in Montesano on Saturday to advance to the district quarterfinals.
MWP outscored Chief Leschi in every quarter, and they scored 15 or more in every frame.
Ryelin Wiedenmann led the way with 22 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double, and eighth-grader Caydence Franz also posted a double-double in her district debut with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Malia Armstrong was also a force offensively, as she scored 20 points.
Morton-White Pass coach Tim McCoy praised all three after the win, and he referred to Armstrong as the team’s “spark plug.”
With the win, MWP (12-9) is back in the district quarterfinals for the second year in a row. The Timberwolves will be taking on Adna in a quarterfinal on Tuesday in Centralia. A win would put them in the semifinals for the first time since 2014, while a loss would leave them needing three wins in a row to clinch a state tournament spot.
“Adna is Adna,” McCoy said. “They’re a tough team, and I just want to compete with them. That’s our goal.”
