Morton-White Pass falls to Kalama in loser-out tiebreaker

The Morton-White Pass boys basketball team lost a win-and-in tiebreaker to Kalama on Friday, falling 57-52 to end its season.

With a win, the Timberwolves (7-14, 3-10 C2BL) would have advanced to the district tournament as the No. 7 seed out of the C2BL, but the Chinooks earned that right instead.

The game got away from MWP early, as the Chinooks went up by as much as 14 in the second quarter.

Morton-White Pass coach Kevin Dunlap said that the Timberwolves weren’t taking care of the ball and were taking too many unnecessary shots.

They chipped away before the break, though, and entered the locker room down just seven.

They continued to get closer throughout the second half, even tying the game at 52, but they couldn’t make enough plays down the stretch to complete the comeback.

“We worked really hard and battled back,” Dunlap said. “We had our chances, it just didn’t go.”

Judah Kelly and Tony Belgiorno combined for 40 points, while Kris Elliot added six, Keaton Thompson scored four, and Kohen Ingaslbe tallied two.
