Morningside Services now has a new office space in downtown Centralia.
On Tuesday, Oct. 28, dozens of attendees showed up for the grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the new office.
Previously, the nonprofit operated out of an office space at Centralia College.
First formed in 1963 in the Puget Sound area as a collaboration of the Lower Puget Sound Development Center, The Arc of Washington State, United Cerebral Palsy and the Society of Crippled Children, Morningside’s goal was to help facilitate and provide job opportunities for those with physical or developmental disabilities, according to its website.
Now, the nonprofit has offices in Lewis, Thurston, Mason, Clallam, Grays Harbor and Pierce counties, with plans to expand further south, according to Morningside Services President and CEO Jonathan Pleger.
“We’d like to eventually get into Cowlitz County some more. There’s a need down there for serving clients,” Pleger said during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
With their new office in Centralia, Cowlitz County is at least a bit closer within their reach.
“This really helps us do that,” Pleger added.
The new Morningside Services employment office is located at 308 S. Tower Ave. in downtown Centralia.
