W.F. West’s Camryn Bostick earned medalist honors to lead the Bearcats to a 239-244 win against Centralia in an Evergreen 2A Conference boys golf match at Riverside Golf Course in Chehalis on Monday.

Bostick carded a 41 to lead the way. Centralia’s Rudy Voetberg took second with a 43 and teammate Brett Wasson placed third with a 45.

W.F. West’s Connor Trodahl shot a 46, Dirk Plakinger carded a 48 and Tukker Rosbach shot a 52. Rayson Birdwell tallied a 52 and Brock Bunker fired a 57.

Centralia’s Nolan Rice and Jesse Kuykendall each shot a 46. Jayden Pannette fired a 64 and Allen Osborne rounded out the Tigers with a 75.

“We had four solid scores from one through four. I don’t think any of them would say they played really well,” Centralia coach Hal Gronseth said. “We didn’t get the five and six socres that they had to allow them to win by five strokes. It was a really close match and they came out ahead on this one.”

Centralia (1-1) travels to Tumwater on Wednesday. W.F. West (1-1) is back at Riverside on Wednesday against Rochester.

Rochester Improves But Falls to Aberdeen

ABERDEEN — Rochester improved 14 strokes from their first match but ultimately fell to Aberdeen 239-277 in an Evergreen 2A Conference boys golf match here at Grays Harbor Country Club on Monday.

Aberdeen’s Nolan King shot a 40 to earn match medalist. Teammate Logan Seguin finished second with a 44 and Evan Waara and Rochester’s Logan Fry tied for third, carding a 46.

Rochester’s Luke Barth shot a 49 and Gabe Masias tallied a 57. Xavier Mendez recorded a 60 and Hayden Williams rounded out the Warriors with a 65.

Rochester coach Eric Holmkvist was pleased with his team’s performance, especially considering he lost two golfers earlier on Monday who went home sick.

“I think the team picked up the slack pretty well. To pick up that many strokes in less than ideal conditions, it was good to see them compete a little harder,” Holmkvist said. “It was a good match for our second time out for the season.”

Rochester (0-2) hosts the Bearcats at Riverside on Wednesday.
