Miller 200 brings drivers out from all directions

Saturday night will mark the 10th running of the Late Model Super Stock Miller 200, presented by Pepsi, at South Sound Speedway.

The race has become a who's-who in Northwest Late Model racing featuring drivers from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Canada. Included in the cars already confirmed to run is Rochester driver and three-time defending champion at South Sound Speedway, Nick Behn.

Some regulars in the Late Model class at South Sound running the 200 will be Bob Coffey from Centralia and Phil Willis from Yelm. Former track champions Brian Balmelli from Chehalis, Bob Presley and Wes Rhodes both of Olympia, are also confirmed.

Also of Olympia is Dan Rhodes, who won the last Late Model race.

Coming from north of the track will be Joe Constance of Mukilteo, Tommy Rasmussen of Graham and Jay Sauls of Puyallup. Willy Thom of Dundee, Ore., and Dustin Wilkinson from Newberg, Ore., will make the trek, and coming in from the east will be Darren Rupinski from Coeur D'Alene.

Running along with the Late Model Super Stock Miller 200 will be the Top Notch Trailers Street Stocks and the Delta Camshaft Mini Stocks.

Jim Swanson leads the point standing in the Top Notch Trailers Street Stocks.



Ron Ehli, in fourth, has a two-point advantage over Jordan McGregor in fifth.

In the Delta Camshaft Mini Stocks, Jeff Bracale leads by 94 points over the team of Floyd and Michael Hayne.

Kevin Koepke is just nine points behind Hayne.

The team of Duane Lacy and Nancy Martin are fifth in points, but just one point behind them is Richard Smith who now holds the track record.

Smith is tied with Kevin Koepke for the record.

The gates open at 4:45 p.m. with qualifying at 5 p.m. Racing begins at 6:30 pm.
