Seattle police arrested a 25-year-old man Saturday evening after allegedly ramming his car into a van with two children inside during a suspected road rage incident in North Seattle.
A van and SUV were trying to pass each other on a narrow road near Meridian Avenue North and North 40th Street around 5:30 p.m., according to a police news release.
The van, which had a family of four inside, tried moving over. The SUV driver became “visibly angry, yelling through his windshield, and started throwing his hands up,” according to police.
The SUV driver then flipped off the van and rammed his vehicle into the front end of the van, which caught on fire.
The family, a married couple in their 40s and two daughters, 7 and 10, were able to escape the van without injuries, police say. The mother told investigators she felt the man had hit their car out of anger.
Officers arrested the 25-year-old SUV driver on multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon and booked him in King County Jail.
