A 21-year-old Puyallup man was injured after he rear-ended a pickup truck pulling a trailer on southbound Interstate 5 in Cowlitz County, causing both vehicles to lose control, on Sunday.
The driver, identified by the Washington State Patrol as Marshall D. Reed, is facing possible charges for allegedly speeding too fast for road conditions.
Reed was reportedly driving a black 2012 Audi A6 in the center lane southbound on I-5 behind a black 2015 Dodge Ram pulling a trailer when, at milepost 54, when the Audi struck the Dodge and trailer from behind, according to the state patrol.
The Dodge, which was occupied by a 50-year-old Eatonville man, a 22-year-old Alaska man and a 46-year-old Eatonville woman, lost control and crashed into the center median, coming to rest partially blocking the left lane.
The Audi veered off the roadway to the right and came to rest approximately 30 feet down an embankment, according to the state patrol.
The crash was reported at 11:12 a.m. on Feb. 23, according to the state patrol.
Reed was transported to PeaceHealth St. John’s for medical treatment.
No one in the Dodge was injured in the crash.
Drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash, according to the state patrol.
