A Tacoma man on a hunting trip was found dead in a truck near Ashford on Saturday. Authorities said, at the time of the initial investigation, the death didn’t appear to be suspicious.

The case is pending addition investigation from the Lewis County Coroner’s Office and toxicology results from the Washington State Patrol lab.

Deputies responded to a spot near Ashford at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Two men had been hunting in the area for the past three days, said Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Chief Bruce Kimsey in an email.

One of the men returned to a pickup truck during a hunt, saying he felt tired. When the second hunter returned to the truck, he found the man had passed away.

The deceased is a 40-year-old man from Tacoma.

Kimsey noted in the email that the coroner’s office would release the man’s identity at a later time.
