Man accused of raping intoxicated woman, sexually assaulting a child in Onalaska released after receiving six-month jail sentence

The two criminal cases against a man accused of sexually assaulting a girl in Onalaska in September 2024 and raping an intoxicated woman in an unrelated incident days later were both resolved in Lewis County Superior Court on Monday.

Daniel Glenn Price, 36, entered Alford and In Re Barr pleas April 7 to one count each of second-degree assault and third-degree assault of a child.

An Alford plea allows a defendant to take advantage of a plea deal without admitting guilt. An In Re Barr plea allows a defendant to plead guilty to a lesser charge as part of a plea deal, but does not necessarily stipulate that the defendant is innocent.

Price was sentenced Monday to six months in jail with credit for 205 days served. He was released from the Lewis County Jail following his hearing on Monday.

His sentence includes 12 months on probation.

The case involving the sexual assault of the child was dismissed Monday without prejudice, meaning it can be refiled in the same court of law at a later date.

As part of his sentence, Price is required to undergo a chemical substance dependency evaluation and complete all recommended treatment.

Lifetime no-contact orders in favor of both the woman and the child are in effect.

Price was originally charged Sept. 16 with one count each of second-degree rape and indecent liberties for allegedly raping his wife’s friend while they were intoxicated at his residence in Onalaska on Sept. 14, according to previous Chronicle reporting.

Earlier in the day on Sept. 14, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office received a separate report that Price had sexually assaulted a juvenile during a fishing trip in Onalaska a few days prior, according to Lewis County Superior Court documents.

Price was charged Oct. 21 with one count of first-degree child molestation.

A reason for dismissing that case had not been disclosed in publicly available court documents as of Wednesday afternoon.

Price initially pleaded not guilty to all charges in both cases and had trials scheduled to begin April 21. With the initial case resolved by a settlement and the other case dismissed, the trial dates have been canceled.
