Magnitude 3.7 earthquake hits near Forks

A magnitude 3.7 earthquake north of Forks hit Monday night, according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network.

The quake took place around 7:17 p.m. and was about 26 miles deep, with an epicenter in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the border between Washington and Canada, the network reported. That's 32.8 miles from Forks.

People reported feeling the earthquake in Ocean Shores to the south and up into Vancouver, B.C., but no one reported damage.



In August, a small earthquake hit near Poulsbo. In June, a 3.1 earthquake occurred near Mount Vernon, according to the network.
