The Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce has announced a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Mad Hatter Play Cafe to celebrate its reopening at a new location in downtown Centralia.
The event will take place at 12:30 p.m. on April 7 at the business’s new location at 219 S. Tower Ave. in the Aerie Ballroom.
Lisa Sills first opened Mad Hatter Play Cafe in 2022, but the idea had been brewing for nearly 12 years, the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce stated in a news release.
When her children were 2 and 4 years old, Sills envisioned a welcoming space where parents could relax while their kids played.
“I thought, ‘Why isn’t there somewhere I can go to get a great cup of coffee, not have to chase my kids, and just recharge my parent batteries?’” Sills said.
Since its launch, Mad Hatter Play Cafe has quickly outgrown its original space at the Centralia Outlets.
“A year ago, we started searching for a bigger location to better serve our needs. We were fortunate to find the Aerie building, which is just incredible. I still feel like a princess in a fairy tale — it’s amazing that we’re moving into this epic space,” Sills said.
The new location features a play area in the grand ballroom and a dedicated party space, allowing Mad Hatter Play Cafe to expand its offerings, including summer camps and special events. Sills is eager to welcome the community to the ribbon-cutting ceremony and showcase the result of her hard work, the release said.
The Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce hosts ribbon-cutting ceremonies for local businesses celebrating milestones such as expansions, rebranding or new locations.
These events are open to both chamber members and non-members.
Community members are encouraged to attend and celebrate the next chapter of Mad Hatter Play Cafe.
