The Onalaska volleyball team won four matches at the SunDome Volleyball Festival in Yakima on Friday, reaching the semifinals.

The Loggers swept White Swan (25-17, 25-13), Neah Bay (26-24, 25-16), and Naches Valley (25-20, 25-15) in pool play to earn the No. 6 seed heading into bracket play.

“In pool play we struggled to get moving and to get our game started,” Onalaska coach Susan Gordon said. “We just played with the teams instead of playing our style and our intensity of a match. We have to get better at this. We need to be able to set the tone and push through no matter who we are competing against.”

Against Meridian in the quarterfinals, Onalaska won the first set 25-20, but dropped the second 14-25. The Loggers rebounded in the third, though, winning it 15-10 to advance to the semis.

“This team made a decision to put it all together again,” Gordon said. “Which is something we have struggled with in the past.”

Their day came to an end against Cashmere in the semis, where they lost 12-25, 14-25.

Across the five games, Emalie Jacoby tallied 51 kills, 43 digs, seven aces, and four blocks, while Braelyn Babb tallied 73 assists and 14 aces.

Renzy Marshall finished with 21 digs, 12 kills, and eight aces, and Faith Hammer added 18 kills and 12 blocks. Sommer Hammer also added three blocks at the net.

Onalaska (1-1) will have the week off before heading to Rainier next Tuesday, Sept. 23.
