Loggers take down Cardinals

The Onalaska girls soccer team came away with its third straight win Monday, opening the final week of its regular season with a 5-1 win over Winlock.

Jules Auman started the scoring for the Loggers (9-5, 7-2 C2BL) in the 18th minute, and Kaiyah Sandridge made it 2-0 in the 32nd off an assist from Randi Haight.

Victoria Sancho got one back for the Cardinals (1-11, 1-8 C2BL) in the 36th minute, brining the score to 2-1 going into halftime.

The Loggers got the insurance goal back in the 58th minute on an own goal, and Jaycee Talley and Oleana Rimmereid added goals in the final 10 minutes.

Kate Zandell led the Onalaska defense with 17 interceptions, while Sylvie Little had 12. Hailee Brown made three saves in net.

The win keeps Onalaska in third place in the Central 2B League, a spot they can clinch with a win in their regular season finale against Forks on Wednesday. Winlock will end its season Wednesday at Toledo.
