In perhaps the Onalaska High School girls basketball team’s biggest game to date, they piled up 38 points in the second half to erase a 10-point halftime deficit and triumph over Toutle Lake 61-54 on Saturday in Toutle.
The victory clinches the No. 3 seed in the Class 2B District 4 tournament for Onalaska (11-6, 4-2 C2BL) and will likely face Mossyrock in the first round this weekend. The two rivals will battle in the regular season finale on Tuesday.
Two 3s by Randi Haight in the third quarter spurred the Loggers to a 17-point third quarter that put them up one entering the fourth. They proceeded to go 9-of-12 from the free throw line in the fourth to put the game on ice.
Emalie Jacoby paced Onalaska with a double-double performance of 20 points and 15 rebounds. Kaiyah Sandridge added 12 points and Haight chipped in 11.
“Hard work and heart won this game tonight,” Loggers head coach Alana Olson said. “I'm just so proud of this team and what they accomplished together tonight.”
