The Onalaska volleyball team handed Toledo its first loss of the season on Tuesday, outlasting the Riverhawks in five 25-23, 26-24, 19-25, 17-25, 15-11.
“We struggled to get things going offensively tonight,” Onalaska coach Susan Gordon said. “But when push came to shove, we got the job done.”
Emalie Jacoby impressed again, tallying 29 digs, 26 kills, and three aces, while Capri McGraw tallied 32 digs and Braelyn Babb dished out 27 assists.
Faith Hammer finished with six kills and three blocks, Renzy Marshall tallied six kills and three aces, and Karsyn Koenig added four blocks at the net.
The loss snapped Toledo’s 10-game winning streak to open the season.
“The girls battled hard throughout,” Toledo coach Kelli Larson said. “But the momentum wasn’t in their favor in the fifth set.”
Ellie Fallon led the way on both sides of the ball with 29 digs and 21 kills, and she posted a hit efficiency percentage of .279.
Lexi Young added 18 digs, eight kills, and three blocks, Abby Umbriaco tallied seven kills, three aces, and a block, and Taysia Miller finished with 17 digs, seven kills, three blocks, and a pair of aces.
Sidney Kruger dished out 47 assists, and when she got the chance to hit, she rarely missed. She finished with four kills and a hit efficiency percentage of .800.
Both teams are back home on Thursday, when Onalaska (5-3, 2-0 C2BL) hosts Toutle Lake and Toledo (10-1, 1-1 C2BL) hosts Rainier.
