The spotlight beamed bright in Olympia in June as Kendall Runyan of Liberty was crowned Miss Washington’s Teen 2025, concluding a week of competition that celebrated the confidence, creativity and service of young women across the state, according to a news release from the pageant.
For Lewis County, it was a moment of pride and celebration.
Two hometown contestants — Miss Lewis County’s Teen Hailey Sturdevant and Miss Puget Sound’s Teen Haiden Bartel — made their mark on the state stage with poise and passion.
Sturdevant was recognized as a finalist for the prestigious Teens in Action Award, honoring her impactful community service platform and leadership. Her dedication to making a difference in Lewis County shined brightly throughout the week, the release stated.
Bartel placed in the Top 11 statewide and captured the People’s Choice Award, a fan-voted honor that reflects her charisma and the overwhelming support she received.
The competition also celebrated the conclusion of Emma Adams’ reign as Miss Washington’s Teen 2024. Her year of service focused on her platform, “Out of the Cold,” supporting families affected by unsolved homicides and missing persons cases. Adams represented Washington at Miss America’s Teen 2025 with distinction and grace, the release stated.
Contestants were scored in five categories: private interview, talent, fitness, evening gown and on-stage question. The week-long program emphasized leadership, service and scholarship, with many delegates — including Sturdevant and Bartel — receiving educational awards.
Next up is Miss Washington 2025, where Miss Lewis County Madeline Scalici will compete for the crown.
