Little Miss Friendly Candidates Interview in Hopes of Becoming Living Logo of Fair

Posted

Fourteen girls vying for the Little Miss Friendly cape and sash interviewed with judges at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds on Monday.

Of those 14, only five will move onto the next stage of the contest: participating in a series of events next week before judges choose one contestant to be 2022’s Little Miss Friendly.

The 2022 Little Miss Friendly will spend six days greeting visitors at the fair and promoting the event. During the remainder of her year-long reign, Little Miss Friendly will attend “parades, coronations, teas and many other events as the official representative of the Southwest Washington Fair,” according to a news release.

The Little Miss Friendly program will announce the five finalists on Thursday. The list of finalists  will be posted at chronline.com.

The contest is open to girls 8 to 10 years old.

The position of Little Miss Friendly, who serves as the official hostess and living logo of the Southwest Washington Fair, was established in 1968 to help market the fair and showcase how “friendliness” defined Southwest Washington.

The ceremony to announce the next Little Miss Friendly competition will be held on the first day of the fair on the Saloon Stage at 6 p.m.

The Southwest Washington Fair will run Aug. 16-21 with the theme “Neon Lights and Country Nights.”

Admission at the gate for adults costs $10 and $6 for children (ages 6 to 12), senior citizens (ages 60 and over) and anyone with a valid military ID. There are also discount days. Children ages 5 and under can visit the fair for free all week long.

Tuesday, Aug. 16 is “Kids Day” at the fair, when children can visit the fair for $3. Senior Day at the fair will be held Wednesday, Aug. 17, with folks ages 60 and over being welcome for just $3. On Friday, Aug. 19 entrance for people with a military ID will cost $3. On Sunday, “Family Day” all ages can visit the fair at half price, sponsored by 90.5 KACS radio.
