A Silver Creek woman faces allegations she was caught driving children with methamphetamine and an unlawful firearm inside her vehicle.

Breayla B. Vickers, 35, is charged with one count each of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and third-degree driving with a suspended or revoked license.

She faces a maximum of five years in prison for the firearm charge.

Vickers made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court on Wednesday.

While the probable cause affidavit does not reference it, both Prosecuting Attorney Jonathan Meyer and Judge Joely Yeager alluded to children being inside the defendant’s vehicle.

Meyer cited strong concerns for community safety as he noted Vickers’ record included 18 prior warrants and convictions for eluding, possession of stolen property and other felony offenses.

Yeager set bail at $20,000 cash or bond, in agreement with the prosecutor’s request.

A Lewis County sheriff’s deputy initially pulled Vickers over on Feb. 24 in the 100 block of Coal Creek Road after observing her driving with a suspended license.

During the stop, police K9 Kimbo alerted to the possible presence of controlled substances.

An executed search warrant reportedly yielded methamphetamine and a Ruger .380 pistol.

Vickers pleaded not guilty to the charges during an arraignment on Feb. 26.
