A 91-year-old Lewis County woman died Wednesday after being attacked by two of her own German shepherds, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the report of a dog attack in the 400 block of River Road west of Chehalis at around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
“When they arrived, they discovered the victim had been attacked by two of her own German shepherds resulting in major trauma to both of her lower arms,” the sheriff’s office stated.
The woman, who was not identified by the sheriff’s office, was transported to Adna High School to be airlifted to a hospital. She died during the flight, according to the sheriff’s office.
On Thursday, deputies met with the co-owner of the dogs, who voluntarily turned the animals over to law enforcement to be euthanized, according to the sheriff’s office.
