Lewis County will hold a public meeting ahead of upcoming deadlines to finalize a budget for 2026.
The Lewis County Board of Commissioners announced Friday it would host an informational public meeting on the county’s proposed 2026 budget at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, in the commissioners’ hearing room at the Lewis County Courthouse.
According to the announcement, the meeting is meant to provide budget information ahead of a public hearing being held in December before the budget is finalized.
The public hearing on the 2026 budget and a second hearing on the county’s levy rates for the year are both scheduled to start at or after 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 1.
The 2026 budget, while on its way to being finalized ahead of the state's Dec. 31 deadline, will likely see many changes through the county budget amendment process as the county waits for final numbers on a number of expenses.
A major unknown for the county right now is labor costs, as the county continues negotiations with multiple labor unions.
