The Lewis County Board of Commissioners is inviting the public to join in a celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, at the Lewis County Courthouse in Chehalis.

The program will include a performance of The Star-Spangled Banner by a local youth fiddle band, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, and remarks from former Commissioner Edna Fund and other local historians on Lewis County’s ties to the Revolutionary War, according to a news release from the commissioners.

As part of the celebration, the board will dedicate replicas of the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights at the courthouse.

The event will also include the unveiling of photographs honoring former and present commissioners, as well as current county elected officials. Community members will also have an opportunity to share what Independence Day means to them.

The public is encouraged to attend and take part in this community celebration.
