Lewis County Sets Dates for Public Hearing on Land Use Rezones and UGA Changes

Posted

The Lewis County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) has set the schedule for a public hearing on Ordinance 1337, which includes seven amendments: rezones for YMCA at Mineral Lake, a new surface mine south of Ethel, the Adna Grocery Store property and the DeGoede hillside property, as well as three urban growth area (UGA) boundary changes, including two in Chehalis and one in Centralia.

The public hearing will take place on Nov. 1, though a time wasn’t included in a news release from the county. After hearing testimony, the BOCC will close the oral record and continue the process to Nov. 8 for deliberation and a final decision. The written record will remain open until Nov. 4 and all written testimony will be transmitted to BOCC prior to deliberation on Nov. 8.

All written testimony must be submitted by 4 p.m. Nov. 4 to be included in the record and considered by the BOCC in their decision making process. No oral testimony will be taken on Nov. 8. Visit  lewiscountywa.gov/offices/commissioners/ to review the legal notices about how to testify.

Before the public hearing, BOCC will hold a workshop on Oct. 26. The public is invited to listen to the staff presentations and commissioners’ discussion; however, public comments will not be taken at the workshops. All public comments need to be provided as testimony.

Information on each of the seven proposed amendments is available on the Lewis County Community Development website at https://lewiscountywa.gov/departments/community-development/.
