The Lewis County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) is seeking Lewis County residents interested in participating in the county’s 2026 budget-setting process.
The BOCC is seeking volunteers from each commissioner district to attend budget meetings in September and to provide feedback to the commissioners, a news release from the BOCC stated.
Application packets for the Citizens Budget Committee are available from the “BOCC News” section at the bottom of the commissioners’ web page at shorturl.at/JPjHl.
Residents interested in participating in the budget process are asked to submit an application and a letter of interest in one of the following three ways:
• By mail at BOCC, Room 210, 351 NW North St., Chehalis, WA 98532.
• Via email at committees@lewiscountywa.gov (include “Budget” in the subject line).
• In person at the commissioners’ office on the second floor of the historic courthouse, 351 NW North St., Room 210.
Applications are due by 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14.
All budget meetings are open to the public, and the BOCC encourages all citizens to participate, regardless of whether they join the Citizens Budget Committee. Budget meetings are tentatively scheduled for all day Sept. 10, 17 and 30, with additional, shorter updates planned in October and November, according to the release.
The Citizens Budget Committee also will meet with Budget Administrator Becky Butler numerous times throughout the budget-setting process.
For questions about the committee, including information about the time commitment, contact Butler by phone at 360-740-1198 or via email at becky.butler@lewiscountywa.gov. Note that agendas for all of the commissioners’ official meetings — including the budget meetings — can be found on the agendas and calendars page at shorturl.at/OkbPK. Agendas are posted at least 24 hours in advance of any meeting.
