Volunteer fixers will be on hand at the Lewis County Repair and Sustainability Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at Centralia College East, 701 Airport Way, Morton.

Lewis County Solid Waste Utility, Lewis County Washington State University Extension Service and the Washington state Department of Ecology have assembled residents who are handy at a variety of crafts to repair clothing, furniture, electronics, bicycles, jewelry and more.

“We’re excited to bring the Repair and Sustainability Fair to residents living in the east end of Lewis County,” said Melanie Case, sustainability program coordinator for the Lewis County Department of Public Works Solid Waste Utility, in a news release. “Our volunteers will teach people how to repair items and give the items a longer life by maintaining them and keeping items out of the landfill.”

In addition to offering repairs, volunteers will teach classes on basic home composting at 11 a.m. and evaluating soil health at 2:30 p.m. An opportunity to have sensitive documents shredded will be on site from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Customers are invited to bring up to three grocery bags of materials they would like to have shredded for free.
