The Lewis County Maternity House 5K “Run/Walk 4 Moms” has been scheduled for Saturday, May 10, according to a Cooks Hill Community Church news release.
Organizers are holding the 5K to help support young women in the area who are pregnant and experiencing homelessness. The run is sponsored by both the church and the Run Amok Irish Running Club of Centralia.
The 5K will begin on May 10 at 9 a.m., starting at Cooks Hill Community Church, 2400 Cooks Hill Road, Centralia.
On-site registration will start at 8 a.m. on the day of the 5K; however, participants are encouraged to register ahead of time online. Registration is $35 per participant and available on the Lewis County Maternity House’s website at https://www.lcmaternity.org/run-for-moms.
“Prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third place finishers. Additional prizes will be awarded to any moms running or walking while pushing a stroller,” the release stated. “All participants will have the opportunity to participate in a raffle for additional prizes. First ticket is free with registration and additional tickets may be purchased for $5 for five tickets.”
Event T-shirts are also available for purchase upon registration.
The Lewis County Maternity House is a nonprofit transitional house operated by Cooks Hill Community Church for pregnant teens and adults in need of housing and support. It also provides them with resources, including mentorship, food, birth classes and life application skills training.
