A Randle man charged with felony harassment was arrested again last week for allegedly threatening to kill a public defender and bomb a courthouse.
Ray E. Corcoles, 51, made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court on Friday, April 3.
Corcoles, who also has a pending charge for telephone harassment, faces new counts of threats to bomb or injure property, a Class B crime, and felony harassment.
Corcoles could spend up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the Class B crime.
During the hearing, Senior Deputy Prosecutor Bradley Meagher said a high bail of $100,000 was appropriate, based on the nature of the allegations and risk to community safety.
Meagher noted the defendant’s prior felony convictions for harassment in 2017 and 2012, as well as the pending harassment case.
Defense attorney Rachael Tiller said Corcoles had expressed “great frustration” regarding the matter and said Corcoles was already on a no-bail hold for violating his conditions of release.
Tiller asked for no more than $20,000 in bail.
Judge J. Andrew Toynbee granted the $100,000 bail amount, as requested by the state, saying he believed the defendant presented a threat to community safety and that, without bail, the defendant would seek to intimidate witnesses or interfere with the administration of justice.
According to court documents, Corcoles’ former attorney was appointed in October 2025 after Corcoles was accused of peppering multiple operators with racial slurs and other profane threats in a series of phone calls to the Lewis County 911 Dispatch Center.
The attorney withdrew her counsel in March after Corcoles allegedly sent her roughly 200 text messages in a three-hour span.
As a result, the court remanded Corcoles into custody and increased his previously posted bail of $10,000 to $50,000. Corcoles later posted a $50,000 bond on March 30.
Lewis County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer’s motion to revoke Corcoles’ conditions of release, however, said police were investigating other threats made by Corcoles while he was in custody.
One threat allegedly included parking a van “like Timothy McVeigh did.”
Based on that April 1 motion, and the petition for a protection order filed by the former attorney, Toynbee found that Corcoles had violated his conditions of release and remanded him into custody again on April 2 — this time without bail.
According to a probable cause affidavit, law enforcement learned of the new threats after an incarcerated individual reported that Corcoles had talked about his military experience when speaking about his former attorney.
Corcoles had allegedly said the attorney was “the reason I’m in here.”
According to the affidavit, Corcoles allegedly told the witness “he was going to send (the attorney) a t-shirt with Timothy McVey (sic) on it and would park his van outside Courtroom #1.”
The witness reported that when he told Corcoles his comments sounded like a threat, Corcoles allegedly said, "You bet your ass it is."
The witness reportedly took the comments as a bomb threat.
Upon learning of the threat, the attorney contacted law enforcement.
Corcoles is scheduled for an arraignment on the new charges and an omnibus hearing for the other pending case on Thursday, April 9.
