The annual Lewis County Historical Bike Ride is set for Saturday, May 17, with all routes starting at Stan Hedwall Park in Chehalis. The event will benefit Scout Troop 317 and their associated Crew 333.
The event offers four different route options. There will be a 10-mile family-friendly route, a moderate 48-mile route, a more challenging 68-mile route and a 100-mile century route that is ideal for individuals training for a major cycling event.
Depending on weather and visibility, riders can expect views of Mount Adams, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Rainier. Three of the four rides will go past the historic Evaline School and Claquato Church sites, among other points of interest.
Each ride is open to all riders, and there will be three rest stops for free refreshments and first aid. Registration and check-in tables will open at 6:30 a.m. the day of the ride, and the ride will begin as participants arrive. Day-of registration will also be available with an additional processing fee, but pre-registration is encouraged.
The family-friendly 10-mile route costs $35 per family and includes two adults and two youth. The 48-mile ride costs $35 per rider, the 68-mile ride costs $50 per ride, and the 100-mile route costs $65 per rider. For tandem riders, strokers ride free. Youth participating in any of the longer rides are just $10 with their accompanying adult rider.
For scout troops or groups of 10 or more seeking to participate, email before registering at lchistoricbikeride@gmail.com for a group discount. Finalized routes will be sent out the week prior to the ride if anything changes.
