Community members were invited to gather at Napavine High School on Thursday to watch a two-part training exercise for fire personnel from four local fire departments.
Four fire departments in Lewis County took part in a joint training exercise in Napavine.
“Our multi-agency training was a success! We were able to familiarize ourselves with each other's apparatus and procedures,” Lewis County Fire District 5-Napavine said of the event. “Thank you to the community members that took the time to come and watch the training. Please stay tuned for more opportunities to attend trainings.”
Firefighters from District 5, Lewis County Fire District 6-Chehalis/Adna, Lewis County Fire District 15-Winlock and the Chehalis Fire Department practiced supplying water from a fire hydrant to a ladder truck and practiced using lifting equipment to remove a patient from a roof.
Chehalis Fire and Winlock Fire loaned ladder trucks for the first part of the exercise.
“With these two apparatus available for fires here, it is important that Napavine as well as FD6 are familiar with the needs of these specialized pieces of equipment,” District 5 Interim Chief Gregg Peterson said.
