Lewis County COVID Cases Again Increase as Deaths, Hospitalizations Remain Consistent

The total number of COVID-19 cases reported this week by Lewis County Public Health and Social Services (LCPHSS) jumped upward for at least the fourth week in a row, from a previous total of 156 to the current reporting period marking 174 new cases.

Deaths and hospitalizations in Lewis County from the disease stayed the same in the reporting week of June 17 to June 23, with no new deaths and 20 new hospitalizations.

The total number of COVID-19 outbreaks reported in congregate care settings increased from seven between June 10 to June 17 to 11 in the current reporting week.

A total of 215 individuals were tested at the Lewis County Mall Discovery Health Test Site in the last week, with 10,085 tests having been administered since the site opened on Nov. 26, 2021.



The county’s case totals do not include those discovered from at-home testing.

Vaccines are now available for residents ages 6 months and older. By the last reporting period, 57.5% of county residents in that age group had initiated the primary vaccination series.
