A couple accused of changing the locks on a Lewis County woman’s home and stealing her belongings are facing criminal charges.

At the time, the victim lived in the 100 block of Alderwood Drive in Lewis County with her father, Tyler Tubbs, 45, and his fiancé, Jennifer Robinson, 40.

Robinson allegedly slapped the victim, pushed her and took her phone out of her hand during a verbal argument on Dec. 23, according to court documents.

The victim later got her phone back and called 911 to report the assault.

Robinson allegedly hid in the home when deputies responded, with Tubbs allegedly lying about Robinson’s location and refusing to provide a statement to deputies, saying he was “stuck in a rock and hard place,” according to court documents.

Deputies reportedly told Tubbs that he could be charged with a crime if he lied to the police, and he allegedly said that he understood.

The victim reportedly left the residence and didn’t return until the next day to retrieve her personal belongings.

When she arrived, however, she found that the locks had been changed. A neighbor reported seeing Tubbs leaving early in the morning with a truck load of items.

The victim was eventually able to get inside the home and found that her stuff was gone, according to court documents.

When asked via text about the missing items, Robinson allegedly responded by texting “Oh, so you want something from me?” and told her she had until Jan. 24 to pay a $10 cut lock fee.

The victim later learned that her items had been taken to a storage unit that she did not have access to.

A deputy reportedly tracked down Tubbs and informed him that he had to return to the storage unit and allow the victim to retrieve her items.

The deputy reportedly pulled Tubbs’ truck over en route to the storage unit and arrested both Tubbs and Robinson.

Robinson faces one count each of first-degree theft, domestic violence; second-degree theft; and fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

Tubbs faces one count each of second-degree theft and second-degree rendering criminal assistance.

Robinson was released Friday on $25,000 unsecured bail and Tubbs was released on $10,000 unsecured, meaning they don’t have to pay so long as they follow all of their conditions of release, which include having no contact with each other or with the victim.

Arraignment hearings are scheduled for Jan. 8.
