Lewis County Buys Chehalis Masonic Temple

With $435,000, Lewis County has purchased the Masonic Temple in Chehalis, located at 123 W Main St., along with its parking lot across the street. But the building will likely be surplused and put back on the market, according to Facilities Manager Doug Carey.

According to Carey, the county had its eye on the temple’s parking lot, but the two parcels were a package deal.

Together, the parcels are assessed at $340,000, although the .19-acre parking lot parcel alone is assessed at $123,800.

The move aligns with the county’s capital facilities plan, which sketches out a more centralized location for all county services, Carey told county commissioners this week.

“So it’s more of a one-stop shop, if you’re doing business with the county, you’re not driving all over town,” he said.
