Lewis County Auditor’s Office: Overseas ballots to be sent by end of week

Posted

The Lewis County Auditor’s Office will mail 654 absentee ballots to registered military and overseas voters for the upcoming general election.

The auditor’s office announced it will mail the ballots later this week, on Friday, Sept. 18, 45 days ahead of the coming election as required by law.

“The advanced mailing provides voters in the military or overseas with time to receive their ballot, learn about the candidates and/or issues, and return their ballot in a timely manner,” reads the announcement.

Voters receiving a military or overseas ballot must sign and declare their ballot no later than election day. Those ballots must reach the Lewis County Auditor’s Office at least one day ahead of election certification three weeks later on Tuesday, Nov. 24.

Military and overseas voters can also return valid vote ballots by fax or email, in which case they must be delivered no later than 8 p.m. on election day.
