Lewis County Auditor's Office: Military and overseas ballots for April 22 special election to be mailed March 21

Posted

The Lewis County Auditor’s Office will mail ballots to 130 eligible military and overseas voters on March 21 ahead of the April 22 special election.

The mailing date is 30 days prior to the election as required by law, according to the auditor’s office.

The advanced mailing provides voters in the military or overseas with time to receive their ballot, learn about the candidates or issues, and return their ballot in a timely manner.

For military and overseas voters, the date on the ballot declaration associated with the voter's signature determines the validity of the ballot. The signature on the ballot declaration must be dated no later than election day and must be received by the Lewis County Auditor’s Office one day prior to certification of the election. Voted ballots returned by fax or email are available to military and overseas voters only and must be received no later than 8 p.m. on election day.

Voters can check their voter registration status and voter registration address and register to vote online at www.votewa.gov

Three school districts in Lewis County, including two that had measures fail on the February ballot, will have levy renewal proposals on the upcoming April 22 special election ballot. The districts with measures include Winlock, Onalaska and Mossyrock. Voters will also choose whether to pass a bond for station upgrades for the morton area fire district.

Only voters within the boundaries of a district with a measure on the ballot will receive a ballot for this election.
