The Lewis County Animal Shelter has launched a dog adoption event offering prospective owners the opportunity to pick up a four-legged friend at a reduced cost.
Residents can visit the Lewis County Animal Shelter at 560 Centralia Alpha Road in Chehalis between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. through Saturday, March 22, to adopt adult dogs for a discounted fee of $100. The event began on Tuesday.
The fee, which is normally $220, covers the cost to spay or neuter, vaccinate and microchip all of the dogs.
Visit the Lewis County Animal Shelter website at https://tinyurl.com/ypzrw3hu to see some of the dogs available for adoption. The shelter hopes that some of their longer tenured residents will find a home thanks to the event.
“We just want to encourage people to adopt, not shop,” Meja Handlen, director of Lewis County Public Health and Social Services, said. “We have a gentleman named Tank who is a beautiful pitbull who would be great for a family with a bit of property.”
