Book lovers rejoice.

The annual three-day book sale hosted by the Lewis County branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) begins on Thursday, March 21, at the Moose Lodge in Centralia.

It’s the 44th year of the AAUW book sale, which will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Thursday, March 21, to Saturday, March 23, at the Moose Lodge, located at 1400 Grand Avenue in Centralia, just off Kresky Avenue.

Book prices start at $3 for hardcovers and $2 for paperbacks on Thursday. Prices drop to $2 for hardcovers and $1 for paperbacks on Friday. On Saturday, it will be just $5 for a bag of books.

The AAUW has been accepting book donations for the sale over the last month.

Thousands of fiction and nonfiction books, audiobooks, CDs and DVDs will be on sale.

Nonfiction books are separated into more than 50 categories, including biography, cooking, history, religion, self-help and a large selection of children's books.

“Shoppers can find books for their own reading pleasure, as well as gifts, such as coffee table books, cookbooks, golden oldies or the latest bestseller,” AAUW wrote in a news release.

Since 1979, the Lewis County AAUW book sale has provided thousands of area residents with the opportunity to discover and purchase books of all types at bargain prices.

Proceeds from the book sale support the mission of AAUW — education for women.

“With money raised from the book sale, we have awarded numerous scholarships to local women attending college and to middle and high school girls for summer camps focusing on STEM subjects,” AAUW wrote.

Lewis County AAUW also co-sponsors Expanding Your Horizons, a hands-on career day for middle school students, each October and has provided financial support to Hope Alliance as the nonprofit assists survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Founded in 1881, AAUW is the largest and oldest national organization working for the professional and educational advancement of women. In 2023, the Lewis County branch celebrated its 100th year since the branch was formed in 1923.
